Congratulations to Allison and Ryan!  I so enjoyed your meaningful wedding ceremony in one of Kansas City’s most intimate chapels.  The photographs we took show off your fun and quirky personality as well as your deep love and affection for each other.  I loved your unique and personality filled details of a fun cake topper and grape soda boutineer pin from your favorite movie: Disney Pixar’s Up .  Your gifts, toasts, and cake cutting at Pierpont’s was truly special, and I am blessed to help you remember such a special day through photographs.  On to many more adventures, reasons to toast champagne (even if you don’t like it Ryan!), and joy that carries you up and away on your own personal balloon for two.

The preparations started in the hotel room for the bride, groom, and their bridal parties.  Briana’s dress was stunning, and added further meaning when her grandmother’s bridal gown fabric was sewn into her dress.  Her mom helped her into her dress and veil, and her girls helped to tie the perfect bow and make sure that veil was not going to fall out.

The guys and Chris’ mom tied ties, put on special socks, and pinned boutineers to be ready for the couple’s first look.

While we waited for the first look and the guys (how often does that happen?), we took some portraits in the bar area.  Again, thankful for air conditioning.  The guys got a turn as well.

First looks are always so special, but I  especially love it when a groom is as excited to see his bride as Chris was.  Look at that expression!

It was so very hot out, and I am most grateful to Morning Glory Antique’s in Westport for so generously allowing us to spend some time in their amazing and air conditioned space (they rent out for events!!) for photography of the happy couple.  The rooms were amazing, filled with gorgeous antiques, couches, and light.

Just outside of the Antique’s store also made for a great Westport / KC backdrop.

Then off to UMKC, which is special to Briana and Chris.  We walked the same paths that they did in the start of the relationship.  Anytime a personal story can be added into photography, the results are so much more meaningful.

This last image with the bouquet was photographed because Briana’s mom and dad have a similar image in their wedding album.  How cool is that?  The ceremony was beautiful with piano music, special readings, and their own written vows.

Everyone had a role with the unity candle as Briana and Chris passed the flame to their bridal party and parents, and then the flames extended throughout all the friends and family there.   13_Californo's Wedding & Reception 14_Californo's Wedding & Reception

Beautiful decor, cake, and food.  The food at Californos  is always amazing. Toasts followed by first dances and into some classic Irish jig.15_Californo's Wedding & Reception 16_Californo's Wedding & Reception 17_Californo's Wedding & Reception 18_Californo's Wedding & Reception

Kent and Alicia had a most amazing wedding day with so much joy and emotion!  Their ceremony was at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit.  Alicia’s mom and sister helped her into her gorgeous wedding dress and veil that her sister had worn during her own wedding while the guys joked around with each other and made sure everyone’s tie was in order.  Kent’s mother did the honor of pinning on his boutineer.

The day was incredibly hot, so we had to be lighting fast with our outdoors portraits.  The wind was a blessing, and Alicia had fun with her veil blowing around.  The bridal party was great, and never once complained about the heat.  07_KC Wedding Photographer 08_KC Wedding Photography

The cocktail hour and wedding reception took place at Loose Mansion, in Kansas City.  The mansion is incredible with classic beauty, elegantly decorated, and the food was to die for.

I want to give a big thank you to Alicia and Kent for trusting me to capture their incredible wedding day.  It was an honor to work with you and your families and friends.

Katelyn & Elliott said “I do” on an amazingly gorgeous day in October.  Yes, the weather was perfect with the leaves just starting to change color.  But what made this day so beautiful were the emotions present from beginning to end.  I am fairly certain that someone cried at every key moment during the day (I personally got choked up when Katelyn put on her dress and when her dad saw her in the gown for the first time).  Katelyn got ready at her home with her cousin doing her hair and makeup and family all around.  We then moved to the church (just in time for the power to go out!) but even though it was dark, the moment where Katelyn’s grandmother put on her necklace will always be remebered by those in the room.

Since it was so dark, we got permission to put the bridal gown on in the chapel.  She was helped into her dress by her mother, sister, grandmother, and Elliott’s mom.   Her mom and sis had something special for her to pin on teh garter for her “something blue”.  blog 20

Both Katleyn & Elliott had letter for each other to read before the ceremony.  They were waiting to see each other during the walk down the aisle, so those excited and anxious emotions were really starting to kick in.

This is the moment where Katelyn’s father saw her for the first time in her dress.  This is a tough day for a 2 The ceremony was held at St. Ann’s in Prairie Village, which has special meaning to Katelyn & Elliott because they remember seeing each other in church growing up.  There were tears for both Katlyn & Elliott during the walk down the aisle.  blog 3 blog 4 blog 5 Fountains were on the list for a photo must have, so we headed to the Plaza (and just in time for some Royal Blue!)   The bridal party’s sunglasses came out and everyone was having fun.  blog 6 blog 7 The party bus made its way towards the reception, and I snuck just  a few more moments with Katelyn & Elliott before the grand entrance.  Iornwood Lodge has a beautiful park, so we took a quick walk down the bridge.  blog 8 blog 9 blog 10 blog 11

The Grand entrance set the tone for everyone to have a great time and went straight into cutting the cake.  Katelyn prepared a surprise slide show for Elliott and was followed by the toasts.  blog 12 First dance as man and wife!blog 13The father-daughter dance had all the emotion you would expect, but then they surprised everyone with a fun dance number.  I love the how easy it is to see the love and affection between a mother and her son.  Just look at Elliott’s smile!
