Elliott & Katelyn: Kansas City Wedding and Reception

November 9, 2015

Katelyn & Elliott said “I do” on an amazingly gorgeous day in October.  Yes, the weather was perfect with the leaves just starting to change color.  But what made this day so beautiful were the emotions present from beginning to end.  I am fairly certain that someone cried at every key moment during the day (I personally got choked up when Katelyn put on her dress and when her dad saw her in the gown for the first time).  Katelyn got ready at her home with her cousin doing her hair and makeup and family all around.  We then moved to the church (just in time for the power to go out!) but even though it was dark, the moment where Katelyn’s grandmother put on her necklace will always be remebered by those in the room.

Since it was so dark, we got permission to put the bridal gown on in the chapel.  She was helped into her dress by her mother, sister, grandmother, and Elliott’s mom.   Her mom and sis had something special for her to pin on teh garter for her “something blue”.  blog 20

Both Katleyn & Elliott had letter for each other to read before the ceremony.  They were waiting to see each other during the walk down the aisle, so those excited and anxious emotions were really starting to kick in.

This is the moment where Katelyn’s father saw her for the first time in her dress.  This is a tough day for a dad.blog 2 The ceremony was held at St. Ann’s in Prairie Village, which has special meaning to Katelyn & Elliott because they remember seeing each other in church growing up.  There were tears for both Katlyn & Elliott during the walk down the aisle.  blog 3 blog 4 blog 5 Fountains were on the list for a photo must have, so we headed to the Plaza (and just in time for some Royal Blue!)   The bridal party’s sunglasses came out and everyone was having fun.  blog 6 blog 7 The party bus made its way towards the reception, and I snuck just  a few more moments with Katelyn & Elliott before the grand entrance.  Iornwood Lodge has a beautiful park, so we took a quick walk down the bridge.  blog 8 blog 9 blog 10 blog 11

The Grand entrance set the tone for everyone to have a great time and went straight into cutting the cake.  Katelyn prepared a surprise slide show for Elliott and was followed by the toasts.  blog 12 First dance as man and wife!blog 13The father-daughter dance had all the emotion you would expect, but then they surprised everyone with a fun dance number.  I love the how easy it is to see the love and affection between a mother and her son.  Just look at Elliott’s smile!
