Our Kitchen Remodel

June 21, 2019

Everyone loves before and after photos, right? I know I do. HGTV will get me almost every time with the lure. However, this is the first time I’ve had my own before and after project, so I thought I would share. We had a kitchen with no working oven, no counter space for a microwave, broken dishwasher, original 1960’s stove top, no grout remaining in the tiled counters, a many times glued together cracking floor, etc, etc, etc…. It was time for us to do some improvements on our forever home. Construction: It was the messiest thing I could have imagined, a huge disruption, chaotic, and oh so worth it. The end results are EXACTLY what we wanted and we are loving our new space.

I have some major shout-outs to this whole process. I would recommend Jay with The Joslin Group (C: 913.433.8687) and Jaime with Soriano Hardwood (C: 913.246.1413) in a heartbeat. Neither of them have a website, but came recommended and were amazing to work with.

Jay was especially integral with the process and approached it differently than anyone else we talked with, coming from an architectural background. He did the design (and this is HUGE!) and the construction. I would never do another big project without this setup. For us, it meant that the things that were important to us were handled in a way that looked great, functioned for our needs/wants, and we had options with the $ side of the equation. The results were exactly what we wanted and with no oops or surprises.

And Soriano Hardwood did a beautiful job laying wood in our kitchen, blending it into the remaining wood, and re-finishing the floors. They stood by their work, and corrected a small mistake without even having to ask.
